Constructing a Public Library

The Organization of New York Mandingo (ONYMA), a New York-based nonprofit organization that is striving to unite West African communities in New York City through sports while also impact lives in Liberia through education.
Liberia experienced fourteen years of civil upheaval, which destroyed such basic social services as Education, Health, Water Hygiene, and Sanitation. Even though the nation is emerging gradually from the effects of this prolonged and brutal unrest, the education system in particular still faces tremendous challenges. One of these challenges is the lack of public libraries, which are crucial in the development of young minds. ONYMA hopes to construct a library in Monrovia’s Somalia Drive community for its growing student population.
With your help, the ONYMA Library Project will increase access to resources and high-quality educational programs for students and the local community. ONYMA believes that quality education and access to resources are the key motivators to breaking the cycle of poverty in Liberia.
