Help Olivia Serve in Nicaragua

My name is Olivia Tullos-Sisca. I am a passionate, driven 20 year old studying Early Childhood Education and Peace & Conflict Studies at Naropa University. I am currently immersed in the work of Spirituality through Social Action, Environmental Education, and Trauma Healing.

I have been invited to serve in June of 2014 in Nicaragua with my mentor and professor Dr. Deborah Young. Her non-profit Americas Association for the Care of Children's mission is to use holistic education and empowerment to reduce the impact of poverty on marginalized populations. AACC focuses on early childhood development, preventative health practices and sustainable community development. The foundation of their success is through the strengthening of compassionate relationships and the empowerment of primary caregivers.

My service will include facilitation of peace education through the practices of critical pedagogy, experiential learning with impoverished communities, learning Spanish, and tuning me to my place in the world.

Your donations support me in making this summer reach its fullest potential. The money I raise will directly support my Nicaraguan host families in housing and feeding me so that they are not living in poverty while I am with them, and will allow me to bring in necessities for the local community, pay for my air fare, support dental clinics, and much more.
