Newham Mosques Support Fund
As we see the COVID-19 pandemic strike the world, it’s people and the economy, we are seeing our local mosques struggle similarly. Ramadan is a critical time for the financial support of the mosques. The public are extra generous and many mosques use this blessed month to put funds in place for the year ahead. Mosques RELY HEAVILY on donations to provide the following: - Rent/Qard payments - Bills - Imam and staff salaries As the masjids start to plan to reopen in the next few weeks, there are new costs and challenges ahead to prepare for the challenge of living with the coronavirus in our midst. This includes purchasing PPE like face masks, hand sanitizer, contactless thermometers, putting in place social distancing, adjustments to wudu areas and regular deep cleaning. Many of those whose hearts are attached to the Masajid are longing to go back. Even if it’s to pray just 2 Raka’ah. Let us show our support for the masjids this blessed month and help them to open their doors again and keep them open. Newham Mosques (www.newhammosques.com), Newham Muslim Forum and Newham Council of Mosques have got together to arrange this fundraiser to help with some of the aforementioned costs and organise purchase of the equipment needed. We strongly believe, with the tawfeeq of Allah and your generous donations, we can help our masjids to reopen and keep open. We have strong relations with the majority of the mosques in Newham, this will help us to: 1. Reach out to them and find those who require the help 2. VERIFY by asking the right questions/requesting proof of need 3. Manage funds and allocate appropriately between the different Masajid who apply FAQs: Q) What proof will you require before donating to a masjid? A) We aim to offer your donations to Masajid in Newham after mosques have applied to have contributions given to them. We will ask for proof of required payment, except for where it is difficult to provide. We may then ask the relevant questions. Q) Who will payments be made to, and how? A) We aim to pay Masajid who have applied directly into their Charity Bank Account. All payments will be made online and accounted for. A log can be requested from [email redacted] Q) What happens if there are funds remaining which Masajid do not need but have been donated? A) It is likely all funds will be used, but if there are any remaining, they will be donated to an expansion project or similar. Q) Is it a 100% donation policy?
