Help Rebuild My Village

On March 11, 2015, Cyclone Pam devastated the village where Nate's birth family lived. Nate was born in Vanuatu but has lived most his life in Canada and the US. However, three years ago, our family went back to Vanuatu for a few months where Nate got to know his aunts, uncles, grandparent and dozens of cousins. 
He also spent time with his birth mom, Jennifer, although her situation means that she will never know him. Jennifer's mom contracted rubella while she was pregnant, causing Jennifer to be born with severe impairments. She is deaf, blind and the front lobes of her brain did not form, so she does not recognize Nate. His family are all so dear to our hearts. You could not meet a kinder, happier and more gentle people.
Nate's family, along with all the other villagers, live in custom homes made up primarily of grass, tin and bamboo with dirt floors. The village primary school is built the same way. Earlier this year we had planned a trip to the island of Tanna in Vanuatu to help with a building project there. We had no idea then just how desperately they would need any and all help they could get. We have decided to put all the effort we can to building a cyclone safe building for the village of Isini and we could use all the help we can get. We hope that there will be others who would like to be a part of the rebuilding of Isini village on Tanna Island. Any donations we receive on their behalf will go 100% to building projects in the village. We will pay for all our own expenses, including travel, hotels, etc. Your donations will be entirely put towards building a cyclone safe, village gathering center, to protect against future storms.
