Kenneth Turner is a beloved  fixture of the Saint John's Mother's Day Out community. "Mr. Kenny," as the children call him, is known for his wide smile and infectious laugh. Mr. Kenny's official position is Sexton, or caretaker of the church and Mother's Day Out facilities. But unofficially, he takes care of so much more.

Kenny greets children and parents with warmth. He asks teachers about their familes, and remembers the names of their children. He brings our staff drinks when the soda machine is out of order. He never fails to swoop in like a superhero when something goes awry, whether it's mopping up messes, fixing furniture, or diagnosing funny noises emerging from the air conditioner.

Now, Kenny needs some caretaking of his own.

Last month, Kenny was diagnosed with cancer. This  week, his treatment begins with a major surgery. He will be out of work for at least six weeks.

We want Kenny to be able to focus on getting well, instead of worrying about copays and purchasing prescripitons. That's why we are asking for your help.

Please join the staff of Saint John's in raising funds for Kenny's bills as he goes through this difficult time. Any amount will help. Let's all chip in to show Kenny that he is loved and supported by our community!

Update:

It's been six months since we initiated this campaign for Kenny. The money we raised at that time was incredibly helpful to him during the period in which he was recovering from his surgery. Unfortunately, now Kenny needs our help again.

Last week, Kenny found out that his cancer is back. This time, it's in his kidney. Later this month, that kidney will be surgically removed.  Kenny is shocked and hurt. He'd been feeling so good, and enjoying "normal" life so much. He thought this illness was behind him. And now he must resume fighting to be the happy and healthy person he's meant to be.

For the second time, Kenny will have to be out of work for a minimum of six weeks. Paying his bills is the last thing he needs to worry about right now. Please, if you are able, help keep him afloat by donating to this campaign.
