Nepal - What More Can We Do

Dear Friends,
My name is Mike Cassidy. I began my volunteer work in Nepal in 2002, teaching English to ophthalmic assistants at the Lumbini Eye Institute. During my initial visit, I saw the poverty and adverse conditions of the children in Nepal and realized that the wellbeing of the world’s children is a responsibility we all need to share. I started a non-profit organization called Nepal - What More Can We Do and have returned every year since, working with grassroots organizations, school and hospitals to bring basic human needs to blind, destitute and orphaned children.
Devastatingly, in April 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake ravaged Nepal, killing at least seven thousand people and causing untold damage, leaving an already impoverished country even poorer and uncertain still.
Thanks to your donations, Nepal - What More Can We Do has been able to provide much needed earthquake relief:
· We have funded the construction of a three-room schoolhouse to replace a destroyed one-room school in Gorkha village.
· We have constructed three freshwater wells on public lands so that the community can benefit from clean water.
· Fifteen corrugated tin shelters were constructed in Bungmati village for temporary relief housing.
· Your donations have bought rice, pulses (legumes), cooking oil and plastic tarps for devastated areas.
· We are currently renting two rooms and feeding ten orphaned boys that were not allowed to transfer to an undamaged home due to their being over the age of 16.
This holiday season, I hope that you turn your heart of compassion into action, and your generosity will change someone’s life - please help me to continue doing this work so that these children can know the kindness that is deserved by all.
