Michaella's Spinal Cord Injury Fund

On Sunday, August 20th, Michaella (or to most of us, Chaeli) sustained a life-altering injury resulting from a large distance fall from her apartment balcony in Aurora, CO. The fall caused severe shattering of her T11 and T12 vertebrae, resulting in a severe spinal cord injury. Chaeli underwent emergency spinal neurosurgery on that same evening and thankfully, she made it through. Our family is so unbelievably thankful to still have her here with us today.
At the same time, we are also absolutely devastated to have learned from Chaeli's team of doctors that she has suffered a complete spinal cord injury, meaning that it is highly unlikely that she will ever regain use of her legs due to the extent of spinal cord damage.
Our hearts may be broken, but our faith in another miracle is not.
Chaeli is now hospitalized at The Medical Center of Aurora, where she has been under the close watch of a superb care team who have already gone above and beyond to support and care for Chaeli while she recovers from her surgery and progresses towards her next step of physical rehabilitation.
We appreciate all of the prayers, support and words of hope for Chaeli. We love her beyond words and your continued prayers truly mean the world. Right now, Chaeli's focus is on healing from her neurospinal surgery and on finding the best physical rehabilitation program in the country. We are providing frequent updates through her Caring Bridge page, but have also set up this GoFundMe account to help cover Chaeli's health care costs as well as her long-term living expenses and medical equipment she'll need.
