I am reaching out to you to help me increase the spirit of Mental Health all the way to Sri Lanka.
I have always had a keen interest in the human being, and especially the brain. Interaction, emotions and human behaviour have always fascinated me.
I still have quite some time to earn my degree in Psychology in Stockholm and to be able to contribute with my knowledge and work experience in Sweden.
This fall I got the opportunity to go to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka for eight weeks as a volunteer at a Mental Health Placement with SLV global. I will work with locals who are of various ages, abilities and background to provide mental health. I will work with children and young adults with special needs, patients at psychiatric hospitals, mentoring child development and assisting individuals in mental health care homes.
Even though this is an opportunity for me to gain hands-on-experience and to become more educated in Psychology at an international level, the main cause for this journey is to make an impact and difference to those who need it the most in the local community of Sri Lanka.
