Operation Help Lindie

Family In Need of Help due to COVID and ICE

Hi Everyone,

I’m starting this fundraiser for my best friend, Lindie and her kids.
When the pandemic had crashed down on our of heads, some of us have a family to go back to.
But for Lindie and her two little boys, they had to face it alone.
She, without her husband, and children without their father.
Her husband, James, lawfully followed order and report to ICE every year.
Then, come March 11, 2020, James again went to report himself to ICE.
However, this time, James did not come home.
He was detained and waiting for his deportation date.
She is left facing this pandemic and all the expense followed by his detainment . . . ALONE.
She was left to explain to their two boys;
Why their father did not come home that night . . . and the all nights after.
A 4 years old and 18 months old are now left to wonder, if their father will ever come home.to see their father?
Lindie had to put up a strong front to be both the mother and father to her children.
However, due the Trump administration, anyone who ever had a criminal record had to be deported. NO MATTER how small or how long it had been since.
No one is the same person that they were 5 years ago or 5 years down the line.
We all live and learn from our mistakes, and strive to become a better person.
James did.  He learned from his mistakes and strived!
He became a law abiding citizen and a business owner, creating jobs and giving back when he can. He was never incarcerated and jailed.
We were all young and stupid once in our life.
Most of us get to move passed it and be judged for the person we are today.
Yet, some of us have to live with it, like a threatening storm that hovers over our head everyday.
The only differences is the label of immigrant or citizen, no matter if the US had been your home country your whole life.
On March 11, 2020, that storm became a reality for Lindie and her family.
Through this desperate storm, she had to seek legal help to fight this case to bring her husband home.
All the legals fees seems like nothing at first, if that means a chance for their family to be reunited.
A week went by, then it turns to more than a month, legals fees and fees for keeping her business a float started to add up.
During all this, the pandemic had paralyzed her all means of income.
She is struggling with the mountain of paperworks for loans, bills and balancing her time for her children. Hoping for the day, when the good news that they’ve waiting for will come.
That good news, never came, instead it was a sentence of separation. The judge had made their decision, without regards to anything else.
They bought him a one way ticket to a foreign country.
All their saved up funds were slowly draining from all the legals fees and business fees.
COVID had stop most non-essential business from operating but monthly business rents continues.
Extended family are doing all they can to help her through this time.

She’s grateful for all the help that she can get at this point.

However, positivity can only get you so far when the harsh reality constantly knocks on your door.
She realized for the months going forward she will need substantial monetary help.
She had filed for all the loans and grants relief funds that she could.
Though, nothing had came through and with the uncertainty “IF” she would even receive that help anytime soon.
She sought for help from her landlord hoping they would waive the rent during the closing due to COVID-19.

It was to no avail.

With her husband deportation date looming near. She again struggles with the feeling of helplessness. So many questions and even more uncertainties.
How can they be reunited if the Trump administration made it impossible for deportees to re-enter the US? Even though his wife and kids are US citizens and their whole life is here.

Therefore, I thought I could help by creating this fundraiser for her and her family.
I’m trying to fundraise for the amount of $50,000, though any amount fundraised will still be a huge help.

100% of this proceeds are going to Lindie and children:

       - to help keeps her business a float.
       - to help with legals fees to settle her husband case.
       - to help with legals and travel fees to eventually help their family  reunite.
       - to help with her financial burden as a single mother with no income.

I understand that everyone is struggling at this moment in time as well.

However, any help at all will be appreciated.
For all of us to be able to look within our humanity and help in your own way.
Kindness and your time is all we could ask for here.

For those of you that are not able to help with monetary means:

- Sharing her story through any type of social media would be greatly appreciated.

For those that are able to spare a few dollars and donate to this cause, we are grateful NO MATTER HOW SMALL.
