Helping Luminary Arts Through Tough Times

The COVID-19 crisis has affected so many aspects of our lives, but it has hit the live performance arts world especially hard. Other endeavors have been able to adapt, but arts organizations like ours are still struggling.  Luminary Arts provided in-school performing arts instruction. We had community performances at both the youth and adult level.  Then on February 22nd 2020, we achieved our dream of opening a studio where interested budding artists could receive in depth instruction in a positive non-competitive space. The studio was a way to bring all our efforts together.  That was just three weeks before the first shut down for COVID occurred. With the new restrictions, we were forced to cancel four after school musicals and were unable to complete our other programming in the schools. We had to rely on the newly opened studio as our only source of income. We were simply hoping to make it through the summer to when school was back in session so we could resume our programs. We have started offering classes online with some success. Recently, when we were able to re-open, we found some momentum and students started to come in for classes that we also simulcast online for those that wish to stay at home. Now, as we move the purple tier we must move back to online only.

We are not sure how long we can continue to support the studio without increased enrollment in our current class offerings. We want  students in our classes and our teaching artists to be able to work doing what they love. Finding students to fill our classes is the easiest thing to do. Please share our schedule far and wide or perhaps think about giving a class pack to a friend or family member. You can also donate financially to help us make it through this difficult time. We have set a goal of $15,000 to cover the next 5 months in rent. Hopefully that will get us through an effective vaccine and a reopening of our area. There are many ways to help us reach that goal. Just visit our website and click Support to see the options.

Thank you so much for your support. We build community by educating, supporting, and creating performing artists.
