Help Leo Fight For His Life

Hope for Leo`s Recovery

Leo Villanueva, father of Clement Villanueva and brother of Cheryl Abdon, was involved in a head on motorcycle collision on the 20th of May 2017 in the Philippines. The police report determined that the other driver recklessly endangered Leo`s life by changing into oncoming traffic to pass a truck when he struck Leo on his motorcycle. Like always, Leo was wearing his helmet, but despite that he has suffered severe traumatic brain injury and currently is in a state of coma in the intensive care unit of Iloilo Mission Hospital.

The driver that struck Leo was not insured and the family had to take on significant financial burdens to ensure that he has the best chance at recovery.

Leo had gone through three brain surgeries in order to remove the blood clot and reduce the brain swelling due to abnormal accumulation of Cerebrospinal Fluid on the right side of his brain causing decerebrate rigidity and decorticate posture. Tracheotomy had to be performed after prolonged Endotracheal Intubation. The surgery resulted to the collapse of his right lung, hence, a chest tube thoracostomy had to follow.
