Help LeAndre with Medical Costs

Donation protected
Hey everyone! My name is Nichole and one of my favorite people is in need of some help with his ongoing medical bills. LeAndre is an amazing person, an extremely hard worker and a loyal friend with an unforgettable sense of humor.

Leandre is a server at Local 11ten in Savannah, GA and has been unable to work since all of this started. He is in urgent need of assistance with medical bills and daily costs of living. His medical issues started in early December, when he woke up basically immobile, barely able to move or walk. Since then, he's seen several specialists, undergone many tests and procedures, will have ongoing medical treatments over the next few months and does not have any insurance to help with the rising costs. See below for more details...

If you know LeAndre, you know he is not one to ask for help...so I wanted to set this page up for him in hopes that this could give him a little assistance during this difficult time. Any help you may be able to give, whether donations, sharing this with others or sending healing thoughts and prayers are so very appreciated.

Thank you so much!

LeAndre's Story:

As I mentioned, this all started in early December. LeAndre woke up in excruciating pain...and unable to move or put any pressure on his right leg.

He went to the emergency room and was told it may be nerve issues, was prescribed medications for pain, but without insurance, he was not able to get the tests he really needed at that time. Those medications helped just enough for him to get to the chiropractor, which the doctor in the ER said may be able to help. The chiropractor was able to take pressure off his nerve, but his leg was still in severe pain and he was still unable to move it.

He went to see a specialist who prescribed better medicine and did some blood work to make sure there was nothing else going on. Unfortunately, the tests revealed he has a blood disorder and an alarmingly high red blood platelet count. (Had he not had the leg issue, he would never have known the severity of the platelet issue, so we are very thankful for that.)

LeAndre's doctor ordered a bone marrow biopsy to identify the cause of the high platelet count. He has now been diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera, a rare chronic disorder involving the overproduction of blood cells in the bone marrow, and will need ongoing treatment plus an additional bone marrow biopsy in the near future.

His leg issue has not gone away either. He had to to get a CAT scan to rule out certain conditions that may cause that severity of pain and now has been referred to a neurologist for further testing. Ongoing physical therapy will also be needed.

So as you can see, LeAndre's had a pretty difficult month. He is now focusing on managing his blood disorder and trying to find the cause of his leg pain.

Any donations made to LeAndre's medical assistance fund will go towards current medical bills, future tests and treatments over the next couple of months and his daily cost of living, including rent and groceries until he is back on his feet and can work again.

Thank you all again for any help you can give to LeAndre during this time.
