Help keep The Bicycle Fixer rolling
Many of you in the Seattle area know me. I’m Joe, owner of The Bicycle Fixer mobile repair service. I show up at your home or office in my red, white and blue Van, stocked full of parts and tools to help you in your quest for that next enjoyable ride. I do my best to see that you have a safe and efficient bike for you and your family.
I love what I do. I also love giving back to the community by donating my time to many local events. You can often see my Van at local bike races, STP, Obliteride as well as the kid’s races and Health Fairs. Most Sundays in season I will park my Van alongside bike trails, mostly Bothell. knowing some rider may need my services so they can complete their ride safely.
Well, that familiar red, white and blue Van has decided to die on me. First the radiator cracked while I was driving in heavy Seattle traffic. I couldn’t get off of the freeway in time and the temperature pegged! Now the engine is history. I received a quote from my trusted mechanic. He has informed me that it would cost nearly $7,000 to repair. That’s Labor at $3,300, rebuilt engine and radiator $2,900, plus misc. parts and taxes. Ouch!
So with the Van dead I must still continue to work. People still call for appointments. This happened on July 17th so what I am “trying to do” is to load my Volvo wagon with what I feel my next appointment may need. I need to load parts, tools, pumps, etc. in my small Volvo. I’m so stressed that a customer will need something that I didn’t pack. This is a real big problem.
I now have to do something that I’m very uncomfortable with. I must reach out to my family, my friends and my contacts for assistance in donating to this Go Fund Me Campaign so I can complete the repairs and get The Bicycle Fixer van back on the road.
There is not much money in the line of work I have chosen, I do it for love of bikes. Oh, it allows me to pay the bills but not to stash for this kind of emergency. There is some urgency to this plea. I’m not sure how long this “stuffing the Volvo” will work, and then in winter I also have to haul a tent! UGH!
I have many loyal customers that use my services as well as corporate jobs that I need my Van for. If you could please find it in your heart to assist me in this campaign by donating to it, no matter how small it would mean the world to me. Then share my link on your own Facebook page as well. I could again be rolling with my red, white and blue Van, pull up to your location to help keep your bicycle healthy.
Regarding my rewards, due to logistics I must keep the rewards to King County and surrounding areas.
