YOU BELIEVED IN | SUPPORTED US ONCE AND WE HOPE YOU CAN DO SO AGAIN.

YOU BELIEVED IN THE JOURNEY?
WE  CAN AND COULD ONLY DO IT BECAUSE OF YOU!!!

Help KasheDance make history once again! By supporting our GoFundme, you will allow us to spend the remaining five days at CARIFESTA XIII as a representative of Canadian Pride with a Caribbean Vibe!  We are anticipating funding for 5 days from the Canada Council Arts Abroad Travel Grant Program but we need your help for the remaining (5) days.

To be immersed in such a historic and culturally iconographic event  as CARIFESTA  would be a dream.

WHAT WE ARE DOING
KasheDance is ecstatic to be selected as part of the Canadian-Caribbean Arts Network (C-CAN) CARIFESTA XIII contingent.  C-CAN is a partnership of Canadian artists, artistic organizations and professionals of Caribbean heritage. We will present 15 mins of our repertoire and also collaborate with Artistic Directors Ronald Taylor and Martin Scott –Pascal on the final section of the dance showcase.

Not only will KasheDance, and Dance Caribe collaborate to present a dance showcase but never before has the three companies collaborated in creation. The last 15 minutes of the showcase will be a joint collaboration between the Artistic Directors and their company dancers.

KASHEDANCE TEAM INCLUDES:
Kevin A. Ormsby | Artistic Director, Co-Choreographer | Christopher Walker, Cheryl Chan (Dancer), Amansu Eason (Dancer), Tereka Tyler Davis (Dancer), Pierre Clark (Dancer), Gabriella Parson (Dancer), Yui Ugai (Dancer)

The aim of the strategic artistic collaboration is to find ways to encourage artistic investigations while working inter-generationally, offering mentorship and creative collaborations of Canadian artists of Caribbean backgrounds in the future.

WHERE WE ARE GOING
Held in Barbados from Aug 17th -27th,  KasheDance | C-CAN’s participation in CARIFESTA XIII will represents a joint international collaboration  and platform for KasheDance to begin solidifying a regional presence which started with the independently funded tour to Jamaica Dance Umbrella in 2016 where the company presented “FACING Home: Love and Redemption”.

·      It’s our first time as part of the CARIFESTA Festival and the first time artists from the Diaspora has been invited to be a part of official delegation.

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT:

The challenge of running a project - based company under an operational structure without operating  funding is no easy feat. This year saw such amazing opportunities for KasheDance with presentations at Markham Theatre, Jamaica Dance Umbrella and Guelph Dance Festival along with community engagement activities at the Living Arts Centre but in this year of bounty there were also bittersweet moments like losing our HOME shared with another leading dance organization.

If its one thing we know, WE MUST SEIZE ALL OPPORTUNITINITIES before they are gone. FACING HOME: Love and Redemption offers an exciting way to engage the Caribbean in conversation on important social issues through dance and deserves to FLY AGAIN!
CANADA COUNCIL MAY HELP US GET THERE but YOU GET TO HELP US STAY THERE!

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

We truly appreciate your support, honoring that without you, Canadian Caribbean artistic expressions wouldn't be kept alive for others to understand the influence of Caribbean culture in what Canada has become.  Thank you for your support and help us spread the word of our campaign by sharing it within your social media network, so your friends could also support us participating for the first time in CARIFESTA.
