Guatemala Stove Building mission

Donation protected

Hi,
My name is Jordan Steadman, I am 16 and I am raising money so that I can travel to Guatemala on a church mission in July. We will be working to help the indigenous maya communities of the western highlands of Guatemala by performing meaningful service to a community of need. We will be building stoves, planting trees for reforestation, and have the opportunity to work closely with the children of the village. The maya women cook on open air fires inside their homes and consequently this causes serious life threatening health issues from infection to burns. Currently the leading cause of death is upper respiratory infections and water born contaminents, both linked to the cooking on these open pit fires in their tiny unventilated homes.  The stoves I will be helping to build will channel the thick smoke out. A family can spend most of its income in a year treating these lung infections caused by smoke exposure. The stoves are more fuel efficient and burn less wood so it also helps decrease deforestation. (Catastrophic and deadly mudslides in central America are directly linked to deforestation.) I have participated in other missions but this will be the first time leaving the United States. Please help me to be the hands and feet of Christ to the people of highlands of Guatemala this summer. This will be a wonderful experience and opportunity and I cant wait to go!!

Please help me get there.
