On Thursday, August 28th my father James (Jim) Shank witnessed and attempted to stop an individual from assaulting a young child with a belt in their apartment complex. When he threatened to call the police the woman got in her car and ran my father over on purpose. She dragged him across their parking lot under her SUV and then backed over him and ran him over reportedly multiple times.
Jim is now in critical condition fighting for his life with multiple major injuries including a pelvis broken in multiple places, injuries to his right arm so severe that he may require amputation and other broken bones all over his body.
The suspect then left the scene with no regard for my father's life and left him to die.
My mother and father live together and my father was my mother's sole provider. My mother is a double amputee from her own battles with lifelong diabetes and relied on Jim for her own needs.
Now, my mother is left to care for the man who spent decades caring for her and is now fighting for his life based on a decision to try and do the right thing.
My mother and father are not well off, they struggle to pay the bills and make ends meet as it is, now the future is more than uncertain for both.
Jim is not out of the woods medically by any means and if by God's grace he pulls through will have a long long road to recovery.
What we are asking for is ANY help that ANYONE can offer financially to assist Jim and my mother going forward. We are not people that ask for hand-outs and if I know anything about Jim it's that he has a work ethic in him and stubbornness that would hesitate to even ask for help.
We are hoping you will join us in praying for Jim's recovery and we welcome and thank any and we mean ANY financial blessings that would be bestowed upon him.
