Jim Daugherty's Care Fund

Jim Daugherty is a a security guard who has been looking out for us at the BMO Bank building for 26 years, always with a smile on his face and a friendly hello.  He’s always willing to walk us out to our cars, help us carry something, open a door, or push an elevator button when our hands are full.  I think everyone would agree that he’s an all-around great guy.

Jim was recently diagnosed with a cancer of the head and neck and is preparing for a very aggressive course of treatment.  He is a veteran Marine and has to travel to and temporarily live in the St. Petersburg area Monday through Friday for his treatment at Bay Pines VA Medical Center.  He is unable to drive himself to and from St. Pete so he uses a ride-sharing service.  He will be out of work for several weeks with no paid leave.

We put together this GoFundMe because many of his friends in the BMO Bank building have asked how they could help Jim get through the next couple of months.  Jim is a proud and independent person who would never ask for anything himself, but many of us think of him as a friend or family member and would like to help.  All funds will go directly to Jim for his transportation and other expenses he will have while going through treatment.  If you'd prefer to make a donation outside of GoFundMe, please ask for Heather at the reception desk on the 10th floor of the BMO Bank building.
