Meet Janie! She is our special, 7 yr old rescue. She is part Pit, part some other kind of terrier. Our little "linebacker". (well, as little as 45+lbs can be!) She is a sweet girl who will greet everyone with a growl and a present! (growls when she is happy and will always find something to bring to anyone who comes in the house. (Her toys, socks, slippers, paper towels, packing tape, even tried the tablecloth on the coffee table!)Janie lost her rear left leg, when she was just a puppy, to a improperly healed injury. She was in foster care for a few years with some really great foster parents before she chose to live with us and join our "Herd". (3 cats, Buzz, Sassy, and OhBoy)
About a year and half ago she had to have ACL surgery on her one remaining back leg. Then right before she moved in, she had a bad infection (due to a reaction to the microchip that was impanted in her), which also had to be surgically attended to.
A week ago when Jana came home from work, Janie was whimpering. She never whimpers, and never cries. (She is about the most polite animal you would ever meet!) After a trip to the great people at the Verona Animal Hospital it was determined that Janie had damaged the CCL ligament in her surgically repaired back leg. The treatment for this is, yet another surgery for her.
Normally, we would never ask for help, but in this case we need some. Jana has beaten both breast and ovarian cancer in the last 14 months. She has had 7 different surgical procedures in that time as well. (Yea, she is a bad ass, champion to say the least!!) We lost our beloved Jourdan in July (our 16 1/2 yr old rat terrier), and without the additional income, it has been challenging, but we have made it through. Janie has become a big part of that healing process, and our pets are truly our "kids". There is nothing we would not do to make their lives better. Thus, this fundraiser.
Janie's surgery will cost anywhere from $3000 to $4000. After that we would like to get her a custom orthodic brace to give further support to that good leg. That will run from $600 to $1000. Unfortunately, those numbers are out of our reach right now, so we ask for your help.
Any amount is fine, and no donation is too small. We will appreciate any and all help that comes our way. Janie will appreciate it as well!!! :)
