Fuck Cancer - Help Jackie & Knocks
So! my wee cat Jackie was just diagnosed with mammary adenocarcinoma via biopsy, which is a fancy way of saying she has 'breast cancer'. Because her cancer was shown to be less aggressive than it normally presents, her prognosis is good if she is able to receive a radical mastectomy. The medical work ups + the actual surgery are expensive, and I don't currently have the means to pay for treatment.
As it stands, the estimate I was given for surgery was:
Pre-surgery:
Consultation - 68$
Blood test - 96$
X-ray of lungs - 98$
Total: 262$ + tax
As for the surgery itself:
Mass Removal - 700$
Antibiotics & Pain Medication: 130$
Total 830$ + tax
Altogether, that would bring me to $1255.53 with taxes in. However this estimate doesn't factor in potential complications.
I spend every day of my life helping other cats and dogs heal from illness, and it kills me that I can't do anything for her!
But because Jackie is feisty, and so am I, I'm going to do every damn thing I can to give her a fighting chance.
Jackie is: 11 years old, has more attitude than all my other cats combined, and spends every moment she can sleeping under the covers while resting her head on my arm like a pillow. In short, she is wonderful and deserving and despite only being with me for less than a year, she has become a very important creature in my life.
Here's where community and you lovely folk come in.
My proposal: because I'm a photographer & graphic artist (I do pet photography, headshots, and make greeting cards & stickers that make you laugh), I'd like to offer incentives for donating.
For donations above $50, I will send you a collection of postcards featuring hilariously dressed cats & dogs - cards you can give away (there are some birthday cards in there) or can keep them for yourself and put them up on your walls.
For donations above $175, proximity to Montreal allowing, I would be happy to offer you your very own portrait session - could be a headshot, could be a family picture, and it can even (or especially) be a pet photography thing.
