Helping Gigi Recover!

Donation protected
The IIDA Southwest Board of Directors would like to assist in raising funds for Gigi Connolly, our long-time Chapter Administrator for over 20 years, as she embarks on a new chapter in her life.

Gigi has been a longtime friend to many of our IIDA members and members of the design community, always willing to go the extra mile behind the scenes to keep our organization moving.  In addition to her extensive work with IIDA, Gigi has been a long time supporter of animal welfare groups - and does her part by rescuing dogs, cats and birds as she is able. She has also volunteered with many other organizations within her church to help not only our "four-legged/feathered" friends but fellow humans as well.

During a recent period of illness, Gigi has had some very difficult setbacks.  While she was finally getting the help she needed, as a result of her kindness to and trust in others, her house was ransacked many times while she was away - precious belongings scattered and stolen; her beloved house in downtown Phoenix trashed.  And to top it off, her car was stolen, too.

We know she would greatly appreciate any help you can give - all donations will help her keep up with her bills (including the medical bills she incurred while in treatment), replace lost/stolen items and ensure that she gets back on her feet as quickly as possible and on to her next adventure.

Even with these recent difficulties, Gigi is excited to embark on a new chapter focused on combining her many years of business experience with her passions for storytelling and creating art quilts as a way to empower and bring dignity to low-income individuals and families in central Phoenix.

After living for 12 years off 24th St/Roosevelt and seeing how these trying times have impacted the immigrant, disabled, elderly, homeless and poverty-stricken members of our local community, Gigi's new project, to be named Mother Courage's Quilt Studio, will be a fully-equipped art quilting studio.   The studio will be open to all who are interested in working together thru the arts to heal our community by sharing their talents, gifts and stories.   Gigi hopes to open the studio in time for 2018's Day of Quilting on March 15th.

It is now our time to give back to her.  Any donation is appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
The IIDA Southwest Chapter Board of Directors
