Helping with Rick’s End of Life Care

As many of you know, our beloved family member, Richard “Rick” Ordoñez, suffered a sudden and severe cardiac event in December 2018. This incident led to a brain injury with devastating permanent effects, which has caused him to remain in a chronic vegetative state. Our family has advocated for appropriate medical care while also praying for a miraculous recovery for over 2 years now. However, on December 24, 2020, he was hospitalized again due to a fever, kidney infection, and an infected foley. During this hospitalization, it was discovered that his lungs are no longer functioning at full capacity and that the antibiotics being provided were no longer effective. As a result, he has now been referred to hospice for end of life care.
 
Rick is currently receiving care in Moulton, Texas, which is over an hour away from any family. Our hope is to be able to raise enough funds to transfer him to a facility in Victoria, Texas. This would allow our family members to continue to visit him during his last days without causing further financial strain. Additionally, we are asking for support in raising funds to help pay for a funeral service that would honor him. We appreciate any assistance you can provide and will do our best to keep everyone updated on his condition.
