Helping underserved tennis communities

Hi, my name is Rich Neher. I publish a monthly professional tennis newsletter and my company Conga Sports provides tennis programs to everyone. Since tennis is often perceived as the "sport for the rich" my heart goes out to those non-profit organizations that are trying to use tennis to teach life lessons and build character in kids in underserved communities.

 

I decided to do my part and help out as much as I can. Recently, I create a program that entails shipping donated tennis equipment from such prestigious companies as HEAD Penn Racquet Sports, Billie Jean King Eye Coach, and Slinger Bag to recipients that really need it.

 

The first recipient of those products will be THE ACE PROJECT in the Chicago area. This outstanding organization does an amazing job with a mission of nurturing children living in underserved communities through tennis and with very little funds. They also have an excellent reputation for using funds wisely and not splurging on salaries.

 

While all the equipment will be donated, the reason for my campaign is to help raise funds for expenses like shipping and traveling to worthy recipients. My plan is to send one shipment to different recipients every month for 1 year. We'll evaluate the program after 12 months and then decide to do it again or adjust it.

 

The estimated cost for each delivery is between $300 and $450. If there is money left over after the campaign ended, we'll use that for the next campaign or send it to an organization that didn't receive equipment from us.

 

So, if you are able to donate 10, 50, 100, or 1,000 bucks, the money goes into our expense fund for kids in underserved communities. We'll make it happen and use tennis to make a difference in many young lives.
