Hi, my name is Chris and I'm helping a woman I happened to come across while driving home. She was carrying large, heavy bags, and something within me had me pull over and offer her a ride. Her name is Monique Davis. I discovered that she had nowhere to go and was planning to sleep outside, with no one to turn to for help. She recently had car trouble and didn't have the money to fix her vehicle, which she had been using to sleep in. I decided to help her by getting a motel in the area for 2 nights to allow her a safe place to rest. By the 2nd day, I took her to get some dinner to see if I could help turn her life around. While talking, I learned she is educated, well-spoken, and simply didn't prepare financially when life circumstances put her in her current situation. She was working as a licensed caregiver but didn't have the money to renew it, leading to working at fast food and losing her job due to her car breaking down.

She is kind, honest, hardworking, and a single mom of a 14-year-old girl who has been put into foster care until Monique is capable of showing proof of shelter, has a job, and can provide properly for her daughter. It's rare to come across someone recently homeless that I could potentially get off the street and back on her feet, so I decided to do what I can to help.

Now to the present day, it's been a little over 2 weeks, and she has a potential job lined up. Her car should hopefully be fixed soon by a church she goes to, and she found a manageable living situation that she can pay $250 a week to share a room with other women in a house while she pulls her life together.

I myself have reached my limit of being able to help her alone. I was able to get a motel for 10 days, avoiding terrible weather, found a temporary car for her to use while she hunted for a job, and also provided a safe place at night to sleep. I even signed her up under my gym membership so she has a place to shower and get ready for interviews.

All donations will go to her and be used to get her caregiver license renewed, ideally a month's rent, and hopefully allow her enough time to get her car back while she works temporarily at somewhere that will provide enough until the test date to renew her license, giving her the financial means to really accelerate her path to turning her life around.

She is close to nearly getting back on her feet and she can have the chance to enjoy the holidays in her own home, reunited with her daughter, and start off the new year with a fresh outlook. I intend to see this situation through and any donations would be greatly appreciated. If you don't have financial means, that is okay! I also feel that good thoughts and prayers can go a long way too!
