Helping the Stray Cats of Vineyard Pointe

Donation protected
When my boyfriend and I moved into Vineyard Pointe Apartments in 2018, we started noticing the unusual number of stray cats around. Eventually we started feeding them and in the Winter, providing them with warm heating pads, blankets and shelters. We helped a local lady from an animal shelter trap and neuter/spay many of the kitties. These days we have five regulars who come around usually daily, with the occasional outsider.

Recently we've been seeing some weight loss in a few cats, and then noticed worms coming out of some of their butts, so we got them deworming and flea treatments. We want to keep the treatments ongoing until it gets cold out again. It seems all the cats are missing some or many teeth. One of the cats in particular has always been very sickly, and phases in and out of good health.  Recently he's been making noises when he breathes, and we would like to take him to a vet to see what's going on. He's had a history of experiencing painful yawns, and also experiencing pain while eating. Soft food seems to help. He's always been consistently very skinny, skinnier than any cat I've ever known, despite how much he eats in his healthy-ish phases. He's always been a generally lethargic cat, and hangs out on our porch more than any other cat. He basically lives on the porch. Oh, and he loves love soooo much! We spend hours a week just sitting with him on either of our laps, and there is one other kitty that I sit with all the time because she loves my lap. She has strange eye problems though, often exhibiting completely different pupil sizes and having her inner eyelid sticking way out.

Sadly during our stay here at Vineyard Pointe, we have experienced a couple kitty deaths on two separate occasions. One was found already passed on our porch, and the other was found severely ill lying on our doormat. We took him to the emergency vet, but he had far too many problems for us to save him, so we had him humanely put to sleep while I held him in my lap.

We are trying our best to keep the rest of these kitties as happy and healthy as possible and the expenses are piling up.  That's why we are now asking for donations to help with the ongoing care of these lovable cuties! Thanks for reading and watching!
