HELPING THE NEEDY- "HEART'S CRY FOR OUR CITY"

Donation protected

I CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S STILL ALIVE!!!!

Right about now you are asking yourself, "what is this writer talking about?" Well, I'm glad you asked!

Hi, my name is Cory Brown. I am the Founder & CEO of
"Heart's Cry For Our City"- by jdb.
We cater to the needs of the underprivileged and homeless in Mississauga ,Milton, Brampton, Toronto and surrounding areas of the Greater Toronto Area in Canada.

H.C.F.O.C is committed to developing a Youth Violence Prevention strategy that aims to reduce youth violence by means of community functions, mentor-ship and evidence-based prevention strategies. The plan will be supported by strategic partnerships that involve innovative approaches. Our Violence Prevention plan will identify responses to current/emerging issues (i.e., youth intervention, mental health and well-being) and focus on youths who are in need of genuine love and mentor-ship. The strategy will seek to identify strategic partnerships that work to eliminate barriers that impact youth in our communities.
While all of these issues are equally important, H.C.F.O.C emphasizes the serious issue of homelessness in our communities.

Remember earlier I said, "I CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S STILL ALIVE?" Okay, the suspense is over!

In 1990 I worked as a Barber at Nappy's Hair Shoppe, located at Dundas & Hurontario in the city of Mississauga.  If You scroll to the very top of the page, you will see a man in the picture sitting on the ground. It was at the start of my professional career as a barber in 1990 when I encountered this man, I would often refer to as "friend". He has been homeless on that same corner even before I came on the scene as a barber, from then until now, I still have no idea what his name is because he doesn't remember, i.e., why i call him "friend".
Back then, I had a vision that one day I would come back to help "friend" in more ways than just the beef patty that I would often run out of the barbershop doors, many times, while in between cutting someone's hair to bless him with a meal.
Well!, after 19yrs, since 2005 when I retired my career as a barber, I've finally been prompted to actualized that vision in 2017/2018/ 2019 & onward.
It was while in the birthing stage of H.C.F.O.C between 2014 & 2017, one day I was visiting a printing shop on the corner of Hurontario and Dundas street, actually (beside the barber shop that I use to worked at) to start the logo and flyer process for h.c.f.o.c that I ran into,"friend" once again. There he was, sitting on the ground, I approached with a 'Heart's Cry' Blessing bag filled with hygienic items and a blanket. I offered him a meal, he declined. "Friend", would often, but now always, refuse meals, money, and water, when offered to him, which makes me say "I CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S STILL ALIVE"... with what little he has. Doesn't it make you wonder how "Friend" could survive through the winters and summers; when in some cases the heat would be plus 35 with humidity. He had on no shorts, no sandals or thin t-shirt to help him keep cool. The same clothes worn in winter, he would also wear in the summer...winter jacket and all!

Every little bit H.C.F.O.C donated to support "Friend" has obviously helped him survive through all these years. H.C.F.O.C wants to do more! "Friend", is not the only one we thrive to support and cater our time, supplies and food to. There are many more people, who are underprivileged and marginalized, many become gang members as result as seeking a sense of belonging; we are here to deter that with love.
"Friend", reminds me everyday that we can make a difference and this is why on the day I visited the printing shop, I believe it was meant to be to have ran into him; right there, sitting on the ground awaiting his debut to officially become the face of......
"Heart's Cry For Our City"... Ironically enough :)

We are asking for a $12 donation.

A JDB Multipurpose Mobile Service Truck, is a used vehicle step up Truck, that will cost between $15,000 & $20,000  including customization; that would transport used clothing, literature, resources, counseling services, and food items, between the cities of the GTA - Greater Toronto area. $20,000 total, is the goal, and can be done with the financial support of you.
With your assistance, we could fund this project.
"Heart's Cry For Our City" needs more partners like you to help achieve our goals. We would greatly appreciate your help.
