Shane and Shannon are a married couple living just outside of Ottawa in Munster Hamlet. The last few years they’ve experienced several challenges.
In August 2015 Shane was in a dirt biking accident that broke three vertebrae in his back. It was a difficult six months of recovery before he was given a clean bill of health by his doctors. A few months later in early June 2016 as Shane was just starting to ease back into dirt biking, a simple easy ride left him with a fractured ankle. He was once again off work, immobile and a surgery that left him with three plates and five screws in his ankle. He will likely live with pain, soreness and possibly arthritis in his ankle for the rest of his life, otherwise he has recovered.

A short while ago in November 2017 they were pleasantly surprised to learn they were expecting their first child. A month later the first ultrasound revealed that they were actually expecting twins. It was a difficult surprise but have since grown to accept and enjoy this news. Just a few short weeks ago at the first high-risk appointment they learned that they are in danger of losing these little babies and Shannon was put on strict bedrest immediately. At only 21 weeks along they were anticipating that Shannon would be able to work at least a month or more which would help them prepare financially but unfortunately she has to remain off her feet. With all of the trials they are enduring it has been difficult as they start to get back on their feet only to be defeated by facing another. This rings true for their finances as well. They don’t know what the future holds and the uncertainty of what this pregnancy will bring is quite frightening for them.
