Corey Jacob is a man experiencing homelessness in Rochester MN. Corey has disabilities and has experienced trauma that excludes him from accepting traditional aid for people experiencing homelessness. Corey needs a new van for himself and his assistance cat (Nighty) to live in. The van needs certain customizations that will allow him to survive the coming winter. Corey's hoping to get a new vehicle before snow falls. I've known Corey for a long time. I'm aware of the complications and biases he faces every day. Corey has many factors that exclude him from traditional aid given to people experiencing homelessness. His experiences with renting and his disabilities have left him few options. I know on the surface that this doesn't seem to be the best option, but unfortunately it's the only option available for Mr. Jacob.

I greatly appreciate the help so far, please help me meet the deadline or all help will be lost so far.
The penalties under SSI and other government programs are extreme including jail time. If I do not do this right.
Apparently there is a 90day limit for the fund. If it does not reach 50,000 by then . it was all for nothing and the money must be returned to donors to avoid fraud under government programs and or waste of good will .
I have rules and laws to follow in order to accept this go fund me.
I can't accept the fund if it does not reach its $50,000 goal in one go.
The go fund me is technically a "vehicle of unlimited value for people with disabilities" who getting government services. I have to report this to county with receipts of purchase and the entire $50,000 vehicle has to be accounted for. in order to stay legal for government programs. This also has to be done in a one lump sum in order for it to not be counted as income against the government programs.
Every dollar is already planned out. through multiple plans a, b, c etc. I can't do this with less. Going dirt cheap with jeopardize my life and cause me to lose van too early. I lose the van I am done for. I been working on this since March 18, 2020 using accumulated direct experience of my entire life. Along with realization those of us with disabilities were thrown under the bus. SO either we survive on our own or not at all.
These modifications are needed due to disabilities and related issues that prevent me from using traditional sources for help. Those services do not deal with the unique problems presented by having disabilities or medical complications. Where there is NO ONE solution that works for everyone.
I literally will not survive. If this does not happen. I am already feeling my health slip away from having to lay flat in van to stay warm under blankets.
I been tossing and turning from chronic pain caused by having to do this most of the 24 hours a day. this is hard on nighty because I am chronically shifting under him disrupting his sleep and shifting his warm pocket within the blankets. He been cranky about it. been a whole lot of growling and hissing going on due to his distress of my upheaving under him trying to roll over or suffer even more extreme pain.
The modifications to replacement van was to address this problem we are facing together.
I have heard people trying to offer solutions. I want you to know that the solutions are actually extremely limited due to laws and rules that are designed to interfere with people with disabilities from prospering and living long lives and designed to hamper our ability to procreate. They are also designed to keep most forms of help that the public or charities may offer to help us that would allow us to live longer.
It is these rules I am trying to work within or around while not triggering a false claim of fraud etc. I have the upmost respect for law and order. And do what I can to stay within that. Also so I don't have to deal with the nightmare of consequences for those of us with disabilities who run afoul of these draconian laws and rules.
I been doing this my entire life. this dance. with society trying to find a place to fit. Society is the one who decided I was an outcast because I couldn't be like them due to having to do things differently to cope with disabilities and medical complications. And the fallout of how people treat us differently than rest of society. And I was sabotaged at every level when I started to succeed at something. Like being tortured through school just for having disabilities. I have sustained severe bodily harm and a permanent shift within my personality to protect myself from harm being done to me. Example I was pulled from school in first grade specifically because of the harm being done to me by both my peers and teacher. The only reason I even have a mental health diagnosis is because of the harm caused to me by others for having disabilities and their belief that I should not be able to succeed or surpass them just for having disabilities like hearing loss and learning disability.
My health has taken a severe toll for this abuse. So there is NO starting over I am on disability SSDI for rest of my life as a consequence.
I have never done drugs, I don't drink. I don't smoke. I chose at age of 13, to never have children, so they would never have to go through the torture I experienced that causes most normal people to suicide.
Please help ,this fund must succeed in one go, Or I can't legally accept it and the money must be returned. anything less than full fund will end in disaster. I am already running my plans on barebones to succeed.
