********** PLEASE READ*********
As I wite this, it is about 4 months since Hurricane Irma blasted through the Florida Key's. We have all been working tirelesly, doing whatever we can, to get the Key's residents and businesses, back on their feet. We have handed out countless amounts of supplies, and made a real diffenence in showing the people in the Lower and Middle Key's, that they have not been forgotten.
Even in Key West, where most poeple might think......." It looks great. Everything looks back to normal......." Wrong......There are still people living and camping in the mangroves.......People whose landloards kicked them out, and they have nowhere to go.............People who lost everything, and still need our help to get back on their feet.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, lots of people now think that the crisis facing those residents, is over. They assume, that because the media no longer covers it, everyone must be ok........That could not be farther from the truth. There are TONS of people......Famlies with childern.......Who STILL do not have air conditioning., 4 months after the storm. They have power, but their window untits were destroyed in the storm.....They lost their furniture, so are sleeping on the floor. This can not be allowed to go on.
We REALLY, now more than ever, need your help to keep this going. We need MANY more AC's and MANY more air mattresses, so residents can begin to get back to normal. These items are significantly more expensive, than the previous items we needed, so your continued support is critical. We need tents, sweatshirts, backpacks and socks........For people STILL living outside.
