They Saved My Parents, Lost Their Home To Fire

On July 21, the Creath family had their home destroyed by a lighting bolt. Rather than run for safety or try to salvage their possessions, their first thought was to save their neighbors.. including my parents! Randy Creath went to each unit and made sure everyone got out, saving their lives as fire was spreading rapidly. 
The fire destroyed everything they have. Denise Creath teaches Christian education and leadership at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, but she has lost all of her remote teaching equipment, her books, and everything she needs to continue her classes.
Randy is a musician, a theologian, and a pastor without fences. He expresses himself through his music  and had just bought additional recording equipment for his studio. All of his instruments, his recording and editing equipment, and everything else needed to continue his living have been destroyed in the fire.
Randy and Denise lost their daughter in a car accident five years ago, and had kept memorabilia to remind them of her-- her paintings, her pictures, a sweatshirt that still had the scent of her, and her ashes. These too have all been destroyed in the fire. 
Randy's selfless instinct to go warn the neighbors rather than try to save his possessions saved my parents, who had hidden in their back room when they heard the sound of the lighting and would have died from smoke inhalation.
