Helping someone who has always helped other!

On April 17th, 2020 Gabriel Coyomani life changed forever, and so did all of ours. He was diagnosed with Covid-19. The doctors decided the next day to put him in a medically induced coma, in hopes that would help him heal quicker. He was in a coma for about 6 weeks at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, before being transferred to Edwards Hospital in Naperville. Gabriel miraculously started to improve, he came out of a coma, remembering all of his family and friends. He started breathing on his own with the help of oxygen and was able to wave hello! From Edwards Gabriel got transferred to RML in Chicago to help start the rehabilitation process. Gabriel recently got transferred to Marianjoy in Wheaton, he is there to learn how to perform basic functions like eating and swallowing food, walking and doing physical activities to make him stronger. The biggest devastation in all of this is Gabriel lost both of his parents to Covid-19 while he was in the coma, never getting the chance to say goodbye.
Gabriel isn't just my co-worker he's family to me and all of us at the Wheaton Park District. Gabriel is that person who would do anything for anyone. He'd give you his last 5 dollars, he'd buy you lunch if you didn't have one, he'd bring in donuts and coffee just to make people happy and smile. Gabriel has a huge heart, and his pride too big to ask for help in this difficult time. That's okay though I'll do that for him. Gabriel has a long road to recovery, so I'm asking that when you donate say a prayer or positive vibes for not only him but for his family too! Any donation amount is greatly appreciated! We love you Gabe!
