Update: Moving Forward, One Step at a Time

Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a quick update on how things are going. He’ll be starting physical therapy for his shoulder soon, which is an important next step in his recovery. On the 6th, we go back for his six-week follow-up appointment, where they’ll do new scans to check how his pelvis and scapula are healing.

He’s doing really well getting around in the wheelchair and growing stronger each day. Your generosity, prayers, and encouragement continue to lift us up through this long process. Thank you, truly, for walking this road with us.

***Update*** Home

We wanted to share some good news! Slayton was released from the hospital on Wednesday, and we’ve been learning how to care for him at home. It’s been an adjustment for all of us, but every single day he is getting a little stronger, a little more confident, and a little closer to healing.

Managing his care at home is a challenge, but we are so grateful to finally have him here, surrounded by family and familiar comfort. His pain is still very real, and his recovery will be long, especially with his pelvis keeping him non-weight-bearing for weeks, but he is pushing through it with so much determination.

Thank you again to everyone who has donated, prayed, shared, or sent kind words. Your support is helping us keep everything together during this difficult transition. We feel your love with every message, every prayer, and every act of kindness.

Please continue to keep him in your thoughts as we take this one day at a time.

****Update**** Going home soon!

I wanted to share some encouraging news with everyone who has been praying, donating, and supporting us. He is officially ready to be discharged! We’re just waiting for his bed and the rest of the medical equipment to be delivered so he has everything he needs to be safe and comfortable at home.
His wounds are healing so well, and he’s in good spirits, smiling, talking, and showing more strength every single day. It feels like we can finally breathe again.
We’re still asking for continued prayers and support as we transition into this next stage.
Bringing him home means new routines, new challenges, and ongoing care. Your generosity has truly helped lighten the load more than you’ll ever know. If you’re able, please continue sharing the fundraiser every share makes a real difference.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

This past Sunday, our lives were turned upside down when my son, Slayton, was in a serious accident. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare, and yet, by the grace of God, he’s still here with us. We are so incredibly thankful for that blessing.

Slayton has a long road ahead. He suffered multiple broken bones, with his pelvis being the most severe. His recovery will be slow and difficult; at least 12 weeks of being unable to walk or put weight on his legs or right arm, followed by months of therapy and healing.

Right now, we’re taking things one day at a time. While his insurance should cover much of his medical care, there are still so many unexpected expenses: travel, time away from work, and the costs of helping him through recovery.

So many people have reached out asking how they can help. The truth is, your prayers, kind words, and any contribution, no matter how small, mean the world to us. Your support gives us the strength to focus on what really matters: helping Slayton heal, recover, and get back to the vibrant young man we know and love.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for wrapping our family in your love during this difficult time.
