Helping Sandy Harris

Sandy is a long time friend and fellow RN who worked in One Day Surgery many years until she had to go out for medical reasons. She has been coming to the YMCA  faithfully for water aerobics to lose weight for a needed surgery. On Saturday, Jan. 27 Sandy complained about her sinuses but seemed ok. By Sunday she was down in the bed and Monday when no one could reach her by phone her daughter Rebecca  Layne had to break in and took her to the ER. She was treated for a sinus infection and sent home on antibiotics Tuesday morning. Weds. Rebecca took the rest of the week off work to help her mom. Thursday Sandy became listless and her eye was swollen. She was taken back to the ER by ambulance where she was diagnosed with an abscess behind her eye. Due to the increased pressure a procedure was done to help save her eye. They are not sure if vision will be restored. She was then flown to Wake Forest where she has been heavily sedated and on the ventilator to decrease the swelling . She was started on high powered IV antibiotics and has had many tests, CT Scans and MRI's. They are taking her to surgery to clear the abscess later today. Needless to say her medical bills are going to be astronomical. Her only income is disability. Sandy's daughter and son-in-law are staying with her and incurring meal, lodging and travel expenses also. Most of all we covet your prayers for this sweet lady and her family. Sandy has done so much to help others over the years. If you can donate monetarily it would be greatly appreciated if not we understand. Just keep those prayers coming!
