<div>I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my uncle, Rick Murphy.

<div>Rick was recently transferred from Prince George to Vancouver, where he is currently in the cardiac ICU at Vancouver General Hospital. He will be undergoing open heart surgery to replace a valve and perform a bypass. Following surgery, his recovery is expected to take approximately three months, during which time he will be unable to work or manage normal living expenses.

<div>If you know my uncle, you know he is a hard worker and someone who doesn’t accept help easily. This situation is completely outside of his control, and our family wants to help relieve the financial stress so his full focus can be on healing and recovery.

<div>Rick has young children at home, and he will unfortunately miss Christmas while remaining in hospital. He is expected to stay at VGH for several weeks, and this support will also help cover childcare costs during this time.
</div>

</div>
<div>My mother, Shannon, has been by his side every day and will need to stay near him for 1–2 months as he recovers. Any funds raised will go directly to her to assist with mortgage and household bills, childcare, accommodation, and ensuring his children are supported during this difficult period.
</div>

<div>Our family would never ask for help lightly, but we are incredibly grateful for any support, shares, or kind thoughts as Rick focuses on getting better.
