Helping people who have lost their homes - Lahaina
Donation protected
Aloha from Maui!
This is Vane Arias, a Maui resident.
This is a non-profit fund for Maui people who have been displaced from their homes today (8.9.2023) Hundreds of homes and businesses in the historial town of Lahaina have been destroyed by raging wildfires caused by hurricane Dora strong winds on 8/8/23.
"Like something out of a horror movie": Resident whose house was burned down describes chaotic evacuation. More than 2,100 people were housed overnight in four emergency shelters that were set up at Maui Prepatory Academy in Nāpili, Maui High School in Kahului, War Memorial Center and Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani (according to Maui Now news).
Neighbors are coming together to shelter as many people as they can. These funds will be donated to those people who have sadly and unexpectedly become homeless today. We will buy food, air matresses and whatever is necessary to relief the tragic situation of the Maui people today. We have several friends who are now homeless and staying at the surrounding properties upcountry where the fire didn’t impact us. They lost everything today, and we want to be able to help them.
Maui island is home for us.But it can also be a bucket list destination for you. It can be the place where you created your most treasured traveling memories. And you can give back to the community today!
