Helping out an old lady cat

Donation protected
Two weeks ago, everything changed for Dolce Pepita. Her owner turned her into the shelter along with his 10-year-old Shih Tzu; the dog was euthanized for illness and this senior girl was left behind. (Her owner apparently went back home to his new Siamese kitten). Her behavior (not eating, not pooping, vomiting) clearly showed a stressed and sad girl whose world had been suddenly stripped away. In spite of that, she was talking and soliciting pets from anyone who would give her the time of day.

Did I *need* another kitty? Of course not. But she needed someone, so I decided to be that person.

The first night in the hotel she climbed in bed with me and made furious biscuits.  She even ate!

Unfortunately it wasn't long before she vomited everything in her stomach. Over the next five days, she slowly declined - she couldn't eat without vomiting so she stopped trying altogether. Except for 3 or 4 tiny hard balls, she didn't poop either. Dolce Pepita was becoming lethargic and even a bit "spacey."

Last night, overwhelmed by her condition, I took her to an emergency clinic where she was put on fluids and given some different medication. This morning she had back tarry stool - a possible indication of bleeding in the GI tract.

Dolce Pepita is scheduled for an ultrasound tonight, which I hope tells me something about her prospects. I want to bring her home with me tomorrow morning, but at this point everything is up in the air.

Here's where I need the help of all my animal-loving friends. Right now her medical bills are approaching the $2,800 mark and will probably go even higher. I never ask for money like this and the whole thing makes me uncomfortable. I don't regret pulling her from the shelter as she certainly would be dead now, humanely euthanized due to her illness.

If you can help Dolce Pepita I'll be forever grateful. I want to keep throwing any treatment possible at her as long as I can afford to do so, and any money helps.
