Helping Neil play on

If you are visiting this page, you probably already know what's going on with Neil. Cancer is extremely unfair and is proving to be substantially life changing for him. A while back he went through treatment where part of his tongue was removed to remove the cancerous cells - this forced him rehabilitate his ability to speak and to play trombone. Unfortunately, the cancer has returned and now his tongue must be removed completely.

Neil's the sort of guy that's tremendously caring, good in a conversation, and will always put others ahead of himself. In addition to be being a pretty swell guy, he's also a talented musician with many years of study, school and gigs under his belt. While he will continue to be a talented musician, his illness is taking his ability to play trombone from him. He has decided to switch instruments to Cello in order to continue his musical career. 

This is where you come in. Once I heard that he wanted to transition to Cello, I wanted to contribute to show him that people love him and have his back. A fantastic deal on a suitable instrument has been found (huuuge thanks to The Loft Violin Shop) and is now in his possession. His family has offered to cover the remaining cost, but they have an awful lot on their plates right now and I think that this is a challenge that the community around him is up for. 

Please consider kicking in to help Neil jump-start his musical career. The cost of the Cello and bow is $1150. Any amount raised over that will go toward his new journey – lessons, sheet music, books, etc.
