Helping My Mom Feel Like Herself During Chemo
Donation protected
Hi friends,
This isn’t something I ever imagined writing, but here we are. My mom, Debbie, was recently diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative, HER2 negative breast cancer. It’s an aggressive type, and everything has happened so quickly. She’s getting her port placed on June 30 and starts weekly chemo on July 1 (just a week before her 54th birthday).
She’s been handling it all with so much strength, even though I know it’s been heavy. We’re taking things one day at a time and doing our best to support her in every way we can.
One thing that’s been especially hard is the idea of losing her hair. If you know my mom, you know how much her hair has always been a major part of her feeling beautiful. She’s the kind of person who always puts others first and never complains, even when she has every reason to.
We’d love to get her a high-quality wig, to help her feel as 'normal' during this process as possible (if there even is such a thing). She's already looked at one that looks and feels natural and will help her still feel like herself through treatment. Wigs like this can be surprisingly expensive, especially the ones that are breathable, secure, and built to last through months of chemo. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s the kind of thing she would never spend on herself.
If you can help, we’d be so grateful.
Every dollar will go directly toward the wig and anything else will help with those odds and ends expenses of the treatment process. If you’re not in a place to donate, sharing this or sending kind thoughts her way means just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting my mom and our family. We’re so grateful for the love and care surrounding us right now.
