https://www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/melanoma/melanoma-treatments/#chemotherapy Meet my dad Desi,he’s 66 and still a child at heart, he is an amazing father, Papa, brother son, uncle and friend. What a great achievement right there, he is crazy about his family and my mum who is stuck to his hip and also me who is with him every other day making sure he’s ok. Another thing he is crazy about and that’s Celtic if you ever want to hold a conversation with him and loose don’t talk about football he thinks he knows everything but since he is my dad I will agree he does. The man would give you the shirt of his back and his last penny so now i want to help him. Four years ago my mum noticed a large mole on my dads back, she then noticed that in the Space of two weeks it had dramatically grown and changed colour.  He was referred straight away and on biopsy it showed to be malignant melanoma I know what your thinking from a mole right ! Yep a simple mole changed our life’s and for the next 4 years my old man would battle for his life. after 1 year of clear surgery it came back with vengeance as it does always raising its ugly head. More surgery and scans which revealed it was contained so after more surgery came a new type of treatment immunotherapy aparently  the wonder drug, it  worked for a while after horrible side effects  we saw a tiny bit of Shrinkage but not enough, so onto a new treatment called yervoy which worked for a while but then the cancer returned, we were running out of options until he signed up for another trial which was going to be a major test for his body in which he would endure three weeks in hospital and be the first person in Scotland to receive it he done it braved on like the soldier he is and everything was amazing and shrinking up until three weeks ago when he was admitted with pain, yeh it’s back although it’s working still on the original areas this is a new area which has decided to invade his liver lungs and back, knowing that this  worked for him and it most probably will again and could potentially save his life would bring us so much joy and I can keep my dad for longer. he is the most unselfish person you will ever meet and he would give you his last penny if it meant you are ok. So I am trying anything I would jump off a bridge for help he is still a young man and has worked hard all his life and even though he has not had much he always made the most of it, I need help he needs help il do anything to get the funds for some private as the nhs has exhausted everything and will not offer much more as he wont be funded  please help with anything you can because I know this could potentially keep him here  ♥️ If we don’t make it to this amount and I know it’s a lot then there are other treatments we can pay for or look into we also have many different treatments available but unfortunately the nhs will not cover them.  We have been told that immunotherapy can be done privately but also will now not be considered for any nhs trials
the reason is many many years ago dad decided
at a young age to have my mothers name
tattooed on his arm, now many years later it was
discovered he has had hepatitis b, he didn’t
know did not have a clue until the tests results
came back, I cannot for the life of me
understand why the nhs is excluding my dad
because of something that “might” resurface
during a trial either it resurfaces bad we treat it
or he doesn’t get any trials and he dies, so
the reason behind it doesn’t make sense
so I am upping my game here and I am going
to be brutally honest he needs something
or my dad will die money doesn’t buy you
happiness they say well my dad is my happiness
and if this money can keep my dad here for
longer then so be it.
