Helping Monica Rebuild

My amazing cousin Monica lost her home in the recent fires in Santa Rosa, CA. She is going to need our help in finding new housing and replacing items in order to make a new home for herself. Of course, some items that were lost are not replaceable and love, hugs, and emotional support are also needed in the coming weeks and months.

For those of you who know her, I think you will not hesitate to contribute to this fund. For those of you who know her, you know she is an INCREDIBLE human being. For those of you who don’t know her, Monica is love in action. She is an attorney for foster youth, and her job is not just a job- it is her passion. Monica has personally flown to Syria and Greece to help refugees, and has done everything from serving them food to trying to establish safe space for the refugee children there. Monica started “The Schoolbox Project”, which provides “mobile, trauma-informed education, art and play to children displaced by crisis.” Monica most recently made her way to Texas to help the children displaced by Hurricane Harvey. I could go on and on, but those are just a few of the ways Monica makes this world a better place.

Even before/during/after her home burned down, Monica was serving others. Their needs are always on her mind. She has been joining people, gathering donations, helping others access resources, and providing support to those affected by the same crisis she herself is so significantly impacted by.

Monica’s only known weakness is that it is hard for her to ask for/accept help. She is a natural-born leader, caretaker, servant. She gives and gives everything she has and then gives a little more. This is certainly a most uncomfortable place for her to be in, and if you ask her what you can do for her, she will probably ask you to help someone else.

This is our chance to help the helper, serve the servant. My love for Monica runs deep and I think she is loved and appreciated by COUNTLESS others. Please consider donating, no matter how small the amount. Thank you!!
