Helping momma stay at the hospital with baby
Donation protected
This is my nephew, Mason. He is 7 months old, Born on May 1st of 2018. Diagnosed with a rare condition at 5 days old- Glutaric Acidemia Type 1 which puts him high risk for stroke and/or striatal injury. Dec 12th, little Mason was admitted to shands, diagnosed & with RSV. He was just not eating. After 8 days of not eating and vomiting, his team of specialists decided that a surgery was needed which he had on the 20th, to have a Gtube placed. Mommy and Daddy was finally able to take Mason home on the 22nd. On Christmas Eve, he began having seizure symptoms & they had him transferred to shands by ambulance. A catscan performed and thankully was negative for stroke, and eeg showed no seizures. The sedated MRI on the other hand now shows swelling in the brain and damage to.the basal ganglia affecting his movement. He can no longer lift his head, roll over, sit up or even pick up his toys. He is vomiting again and not.holding feeding through his GTube. So along with already having genetics, neurology, pt, ot, and speech, they are consulting with GI. It is now 20 days in, having a total of 3 brothers (two of which also have GA-1 & one is disbaled and wheelchair dependent) along with his 2 year old sister at home, Masons parents are feeling the wrath of bills and constantly having to pay for meals outside of the home. Amber (mom) is an RN, and has not been at work since Mason first went into the hospital on December 12th. Dustin (dad) has only got a few days in back at work. For any family having a child in the hospital is tough, but having a child in the hospital and babies at home to get to where they need to be as well and keeping a roof over everyones head can add to on going stress. If you can donate anything to help out even a little, I am sure Amber and Dustin would be ever so grateful. <3
