Helping Jennie For Once

I’m Ashlee Thomas. But for once, I don’t want this to be about me but about my mom Jennie Thomas. If you don’t know Jennie, know that as soon as she sees that there is something like this to help her and not anyone (and I mean anyone) around her that might just be having a bad day, she won’t be too thrilled. Before I tell you how selfless, loving, genuine and beautiful my mom is, I’ll need to tell you not just about her diagnosis, but her story. Saturday I was at work and I got a text from my mom saying “I’m at the hospital but everything is okay.” (Because even at 25 my mom still tells me that everything will be okay.) unfortunately at the same time my dad texted me and said “Your mom in the hospital and you should probably get up here.” I knew. I knew something was wrong. I get to the hospital and the doctor in the room says the cliché “Do you mind if I fill her in?” My mom agreed. That’s when I heard that my mom has breast cancer. “It’s spread to her lymph nodes, bones, and lungs.” I looked at my mom and for the first time ever, it didn’t feel like it would be okay. Now, with my mom not working, they are looking at having to sell things that they own. They unfortunately can’t defer all their bills because she was employed until she was in the hospital.

Jennie is the kind of person that has not only been my mom but anyone’s mom that needed one. I recently got a call from someone my mom works with. Even though my mom had already been struggling with bills, I found out that her friend had been struggling as well. She confided in my mom about it and my mom gave her the bonus check she had earned.. $64.17. She said I’d like to give it back. “I heard about her sickness and I want to help anyway possible.” With the prayer train already rolling are asking that even if it’s a dollar, to help Jennie for once.
