Hannah is Ryan and Lauren's third child who is 2.5 years old. Hannah was diagnosed on April 4th, 2018 with Telangiectatic Osteosarcoma which is a very rare bone cancer. It makes up less than 3% of Osteosarcomas. On top of having this rare type of disease she is much younger than the age range that this disease generally affects.
"We had taken Hannah and along with our other children to the trampoline park in February, later that evening she was having difficulty walking. Lauren took Hannah to walk-in-care Monday morning and had an x-ray done of Hannah's lower leg, closer to the ankle and was told to follow-up if she wasn't walking in the next couple of days. Hannah returned to daycare that day and had resumed walking. In March, we attended a gymnastics meet for Raiya and Hannah was appearing to be walking differently and was really crabby, she then quit walking the next day. Ryan took her to walk-in-care for more x-rays and her knee and hip were x-rayed. That was when what was assumed to be a cyst in her bone was found. We were told to follow-up at UW Orthopedics. That's when the whirlwind started, we were immediately sent to have an MRI done of her knee at American Family Children's Hospital and was scheduled and re-scheduled for a bone biopsy. She had the bone biopsy done and 9 days later we had the results and she was diagnosed with Telangiectatic Osteosarcoma." -Lauren Rosemeyer per Hannah's Facebook Group "Hannah Emery Rosemeyer"
Hannah's treatment schedule is 6 rounds of 5 weeks each. As of 6/10 she has finished 8 weeks of treatment. She will/is planned to have surgery week 10. During this time Lauren is on an unpaid leave of absence from her work to care for Hannah. Lauren is planning to be off work through January 1st. Ryan has missed and will be missing work also to care and be there for Hannah. Lauren and Ryan have two other children, Kobe (9 years old) and Raiya (6 years old).
As to be expected with receiving chemo, Hannah has lost her hair. She also has had unplanned hospital stays due to neutropenic fevers. Her most recent unplanned stay was 8 days long (during her 2 week off time from chemo) as she was admitted for neutropenic fever and further tests resulting in RSV and having Mucusitis (a side effect to one of the chemos she receives). Hannah has received thus far into her treatment a blood transfusion and platelet transfusion.
This campaign is organized by Elizabeth Barlow and Lois Dowell. Funds raised will help the family with lost wages as Ryan and Lauren have gone from 2 Full-Time Working incomes to 1 part-time working income, monthly expenses and bills, travel expenses, insurance expenses and vehicle expenses. The Rosemeyer family has one vehicle and travels over 80 miles 1 way for appointments and admissions.
