Helping Hands for the Jurgovans

July 16, 2018 the Jurgovan family was forever changed..
After a routine colonoscopy devastating news was delivered to Jennifer and Bryan that doctors found a large mass and immediately doctors suspected it was cancerous. A biopsy was performed and sent out for testing. The Jurgovan family went home with hopes that the doctor’s opinion would be a mistake and that the results would come back with a different answer. Unfortunately that was not the case. After many visits and tests and questions, along with a rollercoaster of emotions the final diagnosis came through…it was indeed cancer…stage 3 rectal cancer to be exact. Upon the delivery of that news the doctors informed the Jurgovan’s that there would be a multitude of treatments and it would be a long road to recovery. And that it has been.
Bryan began his first round of chemotherapy and radiation in hopes that the mass could be reduced in size as it was too large to be removed right away. That began September 10th, 2018 and Bryan remained hopeful that not only would this be the journey towards his cure but that he would be able to work at least for a the first few weeks of treatment as their household is reliant upon two incomes flowing in consistently. However doing chemo and radiation daily took its toll and Bryan physically just couldn’t do it anymore. He took a leave of absence from work with every intention of fighting this battle and returning to work to regain his life and support his family.
Fast forward to November 2018, good news was delivered that the mass did shrink and surgery could be done to remove it! This was exactly what Bryan and his medical team hoped for. Everything was going according to plan. He had the mass removed and would then begin his 2nd round of chemotherapy. Unfortunately the miracle didn’t last and the Jurgovans were hit with some devastating blows. The first being that Bryan was suffering from post-operative complications causing a massive infection. After a couple of hospital stays and multiple procedures because of these complications he would have to be sent home to receive 6 weeks of IV antibiotics and would have to cease chemotherapy until done with the antibiotic treatment. This will cause the delay in treating and fighting Bryan’s cancer.
Alongside of those medical setbacks, Bryan was denied Social Security Disability. Essentially this means that Jennifer will remain being the only income with no hope of assistance in the near future. It has already been a struggle financially but there WAS at least a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel when they had hope some sort of disability income would eventually be coming through. That light has been dimmed more so than ever now.
As you can imagine at this moment Jennifer and Bryan are feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders, the last thing they should be worried about is being able to pay bills, buy groceries and simply maintain the life they have worked so hard to build together. I am asking that you donate to help Bryan, Jennifer and their children get through this difficult time in their lives and help restore hope that all is not lost.
The Jurgovans have always been the family to come to the aid of their friends and family in any way that they could. It is our turn to show them the same love and support they have shown all of us over the years.
