Helping Hands for Harper's Healing

Donation protected
In the words of her parents, this little blessing is a warrior princess, so small and fragile yet fighting with such ferocity.

Casey and Jenneca Bruckenstein welcomed their 2nd beautiful baby girl, Harper, earlier this month.  After a healthy pregnancy and uncomplicated birth doctors realized Harper was beginning to struggle.  At 6 days old Harper was airlifted to UC Davis where she immediately underwent open heart surgery.

Harper has been diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called Truncus Arteriosis.  During surgery doctors created a pulmonary artery, redirected a valve, repaired a hole and placed a pacemaker.  Shortly after surgery Harper required CPR which created another hole in her heart.  The new hole will require an additional surgery to repair.  A week later Harper’s chest remains open to allow the swelling to subside before the chest wall can be closed.  At this time the medical team is anticipating a hospital stay of at least 1 ½ months.  In addition, Harper will need to have her valve replaced another 2-3 times during her lifetime and may have a permanent pacemaker which will also require replacement.  There are a lot of unknowns regarding additional treatments and medical interventions that may be required in the foreseeable future.

Casey and Jenneca are being well supported both spiritually and emotionally.  They are blessed to have their mothers by their side caring for their older daughter, Khaleesi, near the hospital which allows them to maintain daily contact and connection with her.  Casey is a dedicated, hardworking father and Jenneca an amazing, committed stay at home mommy.  As such, it is difficult for them to humble themselves and be willing to accept our monetary support at a time when there are simply not a lot of other options.

Please consider providing a helping hand toward Harper’s healing.  Your gift will help ease the financial burden during a difficult time.  All funds collected will be used for direct medical, travel and household expenses.  Please continue to pray for Harper.  This entire family, immediate and extended is feeling held and remain incredibly grateful for the army of prayer warriors standing beside them.  Updates on Harper will be provided at the appropriate time as she makes progress toward healing.
