"Let each of [us] look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Philippians 2:4

As I'm posting this in "Kari's Krew",  most of you already know of Kari's journey with cancer. Many of you know Kari from Illiana High School, many from Crossroads Community Church, or their youth group where Kari joyfully serves, the Brickyard.

Kari is a servant. She is, to others, the hands and feet of Jesus. She's a child of the King, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a niece, a cousin, a friend, a babysitter, among so many other things.

In August, 2014, Kari had surgery for Ovarian Cancer. She went through a round of chemotherapy (6 months I believe) and a year of low-dose maintenance. She also underwent a double mastectomy as a preventative measure in 2016.

In February, 2018, a cancerous tumor was found in Kari's brain, which was removed and another tumor was found in her pelvis.

Right now, Chip & Kari and family are prayerfully considering their next steps. In addition to traditional treatments, there are many alternative treatments, different types of foods that are found to help with cancer.  These are expensive and the research takes much time. Please pray with them in this.

What you might not know about cancer is that, although her treatments are mostly covered by insurance, out-of-pocket expenses for cancer average between $25,000-$30,000/year. Travel expenses to and from the doctor among their already very busy schedule, time Chip needs to take off of work for appointments, additional nutritional supplements that insurance won't cover, sometimes a meal out when energy is low...the list is seemingly endless.

Chip is working hard to continue to support his family, but there are always many needs that do not fit into the budget, especially in a family of 6.

Kari's newest battle wound...

There are 260 members of "Kari's Krew"!! If we all gave $20, the goal of $5,000 would be met immediately. I understand that some can't afford $20 right now and some may be able to give a little more. Please prayerfully consider donating to help the Kort family.
