Helping Hand: Hygiene care to homeless community
Homelessness in California is at an all time high. The cost of living is consistently increasing. In Los Angeles specifically, more than 20% of the city’s residents live in poverty. Los Angeles County now boasts nearly 60,000 homeless people, a 12 percent increase from last year. The city estimates that 75 percent of this number, roughly 45,000 citizens, live outdoors. With the winter season here there are people out there that need our help!
We will be making small care packages and handing them out to those on the street and those in need. In these packages we will include items such as: water, snack, deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, tissue, and feminine care products such as pads & tampons for women.
A friend and I did this on Thanksgiving day on a smaller scale and it really opened my eyes to how big of a problem this is so I wanted to open it up, raise awareness and spread this to those who'd like to help. Each bag costs about $8 to make. Any type of donation would help! (We are also collecting any donated blankets and sweaters to stay warm in the winter. If you are interested in helping out or have clothing donations please send me a message, all the help is welcomed)
Thank you and happy holidays!
