Helping Hand for the Sterritts

This family.  You know those people that are always there when you need someone even though you may have not asked for help?  You know those people that fly under the radar but always show up when it really matters, when you've received some bad news or when your car is broken or when no one else volunteers to help?  You know those people that are always supporting other's causes, baking for bake sales or attending fund raisers or just helping to spread the word? The Sterritts are that family.  They are a TIGHT family and generally move as a pack :).  They are the kind of people that do without and make do rather than ask for help and although they still aren’t asking, they need our help.  Many years ago, Bruce was diagnosed with Melanoma. He was treated and deemed cured for the time with the requirement to return to the doctor regularly for rechecks.  But, due to a lack of affordable healthcare in subsequent years, the family could only afford insurance for their 3 children and he and Ann went without.  So when the cancer returned and he wasn’t doing the recommended rechecks, it came back unchecked and worse, the cancer spread.  When it was finally discovered, traditional treatments didn’t work.  Bruce then underwent several intensive week long treatments in the hospital where he received enormous amounts of medication in an effort to slow the cancer.  As you can imagine, this treatment left him incredibly weak and in intense pain and   . . . .totally unable to work.

Bruce works for himself as a general contractor and Ann works at a Charter School.  And while they now have insurance, it’s very expensive and the medical costs are astronomical, and it is unknown when Bruce will be able to return to work.

We do not know yet if the treatments he has been receiving have helped or not but we are holding great hope for recovery.  However, the road will be a long one and the financial burden to this wonderful family is great.  Please help them as they have helped so many others and help to ease their minds a tiny bit so that they can focus on the battle ahead.   If you are unable to help financially, please help by sharing their story.  And please remember that every little bit helps. The Sterritts are the kind of family that, if you meet, you are grateful for it every day and a couple with the kind of relationship that emanates love and respect for one another.  Please help if you can.

You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live.
