Help Daniel Fight Covid-19 and Recover!
Hello beautiful friends and family of Daniel. I am Christina Steinert, his girlfriend. I have been in close contact and would like to fill you in a bit on what is going on with Dr. Dan.
On the evening of Wednesday, July 21, 2021 Daniel started with symptoms of COVID-19. Lots of coughing, hacking, chest pain, fever and sinus infection symptoms for the next few days and nights. He continue to believe it was just a sinus infection, which he gets often. Come Monday, July 26, 2021 he had an E visit with his primary, and a Covid test. That afternoon it came back positive. He felt extremely ill with body aches, explaining it similar to a really bad flu. He fought it for the next couple days till Thursday, July 29, 2021 a friend gave him a ride to Sanford urgent care. Daniel was struggling to breathe and was immediately put on oxygen, he was below 88% when he arrived. X-rays showed double pneumonia. He was admitted and taken by ambulance to the Sanford Covid unit that day.
The last few days have been very scary to say the least. He text a few times a day but is unable to talk or hold a conversation. He is focusing hard on breathing. He states he can’t breathe and has severe chest pain. After CT scans on Saturday he also has a bad sinus infection causing extreme pain in his face. He’s on 12 L of oxygen through nasal cannula. Oxygen saturation is steady. He is on a concoction of medication; azithromycin, steroids, ceftriaxone, and remdesivir, to help stop the virus from spreading. Nurse said he has a long way to go before intubation would be an option. Thank God!
