Helping Hachi Bear
Donation protected
This is something that's kind of difficult to do, but may be worth a shot.
Hachi is a 4.5 year old Akita. In July 2023, Hachi had an accident going for a hike when his hind left leg became lodged while running across a creek, in a divet. He was incapacitated and had a complete acute cruciate rupture in his knee and was unable to walk. His surgery was scheduled in August and Hachi now has a plate holding his knee in place.
Then last Friday, January 5th, 24 Hachi had another accident, and from overcompensation of use, has another complete tear of the cruciate in his right knee this time. He is unable to walk because his first knee is still in the healing process and he is on pain meds along with Gallaprant and Gabapentin.
This was unbelievable, and bad timing- we had been gathering information on all pet insurances and comparisons of cost vs covered services, etc.
It's been a rough few days of trying to make decisions; from euthanasia to another surgery but, we are probably approximately only a third of the way paying off his previous surgery of over $8,000.
Hachi (and his sister, Lucy) are well-taken care of pups with regular vet visits, immunizations, and emergency care when needed.
Hachi has an upcoming appointment with the orthopedic surgeon. In the meantime, we bought him two leg braces and ordered a pup wheelchair and are waiting for it to arrive.
Kind regards,
