Garda Duys ongoing medical needs and equipment

Hi Everyone,Some of you may or may not know Duy. He is a 17yr old boy that is only our bundle of joy. Duys medical needs can be quiet complex, he is confined to his wheelchair full time, is non-verbal and requires 24hour assistance and care. He also suffers from N88 Epilepsy since he was a baby having about 20+ seizures a day to roughly 2 a month at present which are very aggressive seizures taking its toll on his small body and we are adjusting his medication. Duy also has the following conditions: Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, Microcephaly, Cerebal Palsy, Athetoid Quadriplegia and now a mild form of Scholosis.  

 

Updated ^^^^  We were fundraising for a new wheelchair accessible car for his needs as our current car was at the end of its lifespan. Having the adapted car allows Duy to get to all the places he needs to go to especially his hospital appointments. With our old car we almost had to avoid the ramps on the roads as the exhaust was constantly falling off, the back floor was slowly dropping where we were fearful it may give way at some stage leaving us with no car for him. With your help and massive donations and with a hefty bank loan we were able to buy Duy a brand new adaptable van so we thankyou so much. We have also been able to purchase a secure sling that Duy can sit unaided in a normal car seat and the patrol car and van with his colleagues and go for drives and feel normal.

Thankyou for your assistance to date. Its hard to ask for the funding for the help but with the high costs of adapted vehicles we simply couldnt do it on our own.

We have since moved to our forever home in the county of Roscommon. We are going to revamp Duys bedroom and build on a wetroom specifically suited to him and his needs and hope to get Duy a ceiling hoist that would hoist him from his chair to his bed and then into his wetroom, this would be a permanet fixture to his room along with a showerbed to shower Duy and make caring for him that bit easier.
